PAREXEL London Clinical Pharmacology Research Unit
Established in 1992, PAREXEL’s London CPRU has more than 15 years of experience in the conduct of Phase I and IIa studies. Located adjacent to the Respiratory and Cardiology departments within an 800-bed teaching hospital, the Unit offers 64 dedicated beds and an experienced staff with a strong focus on First in Man and Proof of Concept studies.
There are strong links with many departments in the hospital, allowing PAREXEL to work with hospital consultants to provide planned support for clinical studies. In particular the Unit has an established track record in running studies with the respiratory and cardiology departments. PET studies can also be run in collaboration with Imanet GE based at Hammersmith Hospital, a thirty minute drive from the CPRU.
The London Unit also has a broad range of experience across all therapeutic areas and types of Phase I studies including multiple dose, drug interaction, pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic.
There is a high ratio of physicians to beds with more than seven physicians working within the Unit. In addition, the Northwick Park Hospital provides emergency backup to PAREXEL as required, including the provision of ICU beds.
PAREXEL’s London site is outfitted with cardiac telemetry, bedside ECG and NIBP monitoring, which is connected to ClinBaseTM allowing for electronic data capture. The Unit has its own MHRA GMP-accredited pharmacy with an onsite Qualified Person (QP), and well-equipped sample processing laboratories. It also boasts a dedicated Respiratory Laboratory and two whole-body plethysmographs.
