Pharmacoepidemiology

Pharmacoepidemiology examines the effects of drugs in large populations.  It is a discipline which has adopted the methods of epidemiology and applied them principally, but by no means exclusively, to the area of adverse drug effects.  Various prospective and retrospective tools are available which can broadly be broken down into 3 categories:
