PAREXEL INTERNATIONAL ANNOUNCES VICE PRESIDENT AND UNIT DIRECTOR OF CLINICAL PHARMACOLOGY
BOSTON, MA, September 15, 2004 — PAREXEL International Corporation (Nasdaq: PRXL) today announced the appointment of Antoni A. Piergies, MD, MSEE as Vice President, Clinical Pharmacology and Director of PAREXEL’s Clinical Pharmacology Research Unit (CPRU) located within the Harbor Hospital Center in Baltimore, Maryland. Dr. Piergies will be responsible for all aspects of the Unit's scientific, medical, administrative and commercial activities. In addition, he will oversee all trials conducted at this CPRU including First in Man, drug interaction, single and multiple dose, QT cardiac safety, anti-cytokine therapies, and recombinant vaccine studies.

Prior to joining PAREXEL, Dr. Piergies held positions in drug development at Pfizer (Germany and Austria), Wyeth-Ayerst Research (Philadelphia), Fujisawa (Illinois) and GlaxoSmithKline (North Carolina). He also worked as a consultant to the pharmaceutical industry. Throughout his career, he specialized in Clinical Pharmacology trials including First in Man studies. Dr. Piergies held faculty appointments at Northwestern University Medical School, the University of South Florida, the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and recently held the appointment of Associate Professor of Clinical Pharmacology in the Department of Medicine at Tulane University in New Orleans. He has contributed to numerous medical and scientific publications.
Dr. Piergies is a licensed medical doctor and is board-certified in clinical pharmacology. He completed electrical engineering studies earning a Masters of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Technische Hochschule, Magdeburg, Germany. He obtained his medical degree and postgraduate research degree in medicine at Ludwig Maximillian University, Munich, Germany.
