Each year on February 4, people across the world unite to show support, raise our collective voice, and take action in the fight against cancer by recognizing World Cancer Day. In 2018, there were an estimated 18 million cancer cases around the world, and the need for clinical research and the delivery of new therapies to patients is critical.
Just last year, the FDA approved 16 new oncology drugs. As companies seek to develop innovative new therapies to treat this disease, PAREXEL’s role will become increasingly essential in development and delivery of these important new medicines. In acknowledgment of this day, Dr. Dana Washburn, Corporate Vice President, Head, Global Medical Services, Dr. Matthew Cooney, Senior Medical Director and Therapeutic Area Lead for Oncology, and Dr. Todd Shuster, Global Therapeutic Area Head, Oncology/Hematology, sat down to discuss the progress we have made in the treatment of cancer, the promising innovations we’re seeing, and the important role of patients in the drug development journey.
