Inclusion of standardized cardiovascular (CV) imaging endpoints in clinical trials is becoming increasingly valuable, often resulting in an accelerated understanding of a drug's effect on CV efficacy and safety. As a leading imaging core lab for clinical trials with CV efficacy and safety endpoints we offer broad expertise and experience in handling the cardiovascular imaging needs of small and large scale studies, across multiple therapeutic areas and with all major CV imaging modalities.  Parexel is proud to have supported 8 regulatory approvals that included the assessment of CV safety.

For these modalities, we are able to provide quantitative assessments, such as cardiac volumes, dimensions and calculation of ejection fraction, as well as qualitative assessments, for example, regional and global ventricular wall motion abnormalities, valvular anatomy and function. These assessments are typically made using either proprietary image viewing software and systems, or state-of-the-art third party software.

Cardiovascular Services

Our medical imaging experts provide consultation on developing the imaging component of protocols and guide independent review charter development. We ensure a standardization of image acquisition through site training and qualification, collection and processing of all images in a central repository.  A rigorous reviewer selection process, along with comprehensive training and testing of the selected readers occurs prior to the independent review. In addition, formal, periodic monitoring of reviewer performance during each study is employed. These practices facilitate the independent and unbiased evaluation of cardiovascular imaging endpoints and the delivery of validated and high quality data to our clients.

In addition, you will be supported by an on-staff registered cardiac sonographer with over 16 years of clinical imaging experience, available to support investigator sites regarding image acquisition and submission and responsible for monitoring reviewer performance.

Collaborating with Parexel provides access to our collective experience, including over 30 world-renowned medical centers for clinical trial programs and access to over 30 cardiovascular imaging experts. Many of whom have specific imaging modality expertise, including but not limited to echocardiography, nuclear cardiology, angiography, and global drug, device and imaging agent development experience.
