Emtiyaz has 7+ years of experience in market access, health economics and HTA strategy. He specializes in leading global projects to provide input on clinical trials (e.g. endpoint selection, TPP, PICO optimization), economic modelling to demonstrate value, and development of submissions and materials to support HTA and payer engagements. His work spans oncology, rare diseases, and chronic conditions, with a focus on aligning evidence generation with payer expectations.

Emtiyaz also serves as the life sciences industry representative on NICE’s Highly Specialised Technology (HST) Evaluation Committee. He has contributed to over 50 HTA evaluations, including gene therapies and ultra-rare disease technologies. In this role, he reviews manufacturer submissions, alongside input from key stakeholders (e.g. patient groups, clinical experts and the evidence assessment group), to assess whether the available evidence is sufficient for routine NHS commissioning, supports consideration under a managed entry agreement, or has unresolvable issues that may prevent a positive recommendation.

Education
Emtiyaz holds an MA in Philosophy, Politics and Economics of Health from University College London. He also earned a BSc in Biological Sciences, specializing in Physiology with Pharmacology, from the University of Leicester.
