Impact stories

Environmental Leadership with Science-Based Targets

Parexel achieved a major milestone in 2024 by securing Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) validation for near-term greenhouse gas reduction goals — the gold standard for corporate climate commitments.

This validation reinforces our pledge to reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 42% and Scope 3 emissions by 25% by 2030.  We also maintained 100% renewable electricity use for the third consecutive year, reduced air travel emissions by 44% from a 2019 baseline and increased green building occupancy to 48% globally. These actions demonstrate Parexel’s commitment to minimizing its environmental footprint while advancing world health.

Patients First Through Global Engagement

In 2024, Parexel deepened its commitment to patient-centric research by launching Patients First Fridays, engaging over 5,000 employees in 15 global sessions focused on integrating patient perspectives into clinical trial design.

Parexel also hosted our first Patient Advocacy Group Forum, bringing together 60 participants from North America, Europe, and Asia/Pacific to address barriers to trial participation. Insights from this forum are shaping recruitment strategies and improving trial accessibility worldwide. Additionally, we expanded our Patient Advisory Councils to include ophthalmology and rare diseases, ensuring diverse voices influence study design and execution.

Advancing Inclusion and Leadership Development

We continue to lead in creating an inclusive workplace. In 2024, 46.6% of Vice Presidents and above were women, up from 33.5% in 2014, and 16.2% of women VPs in the U.S. are women of color, nearly doubling in a decade.

We launched a global disability inclusion training module, expanded Business Resource Groups, and celebrated graduates of our Wayfinders in Leadership program, which has supported over 400 leaders since inception. Recognition followed: Parexel was named one of America’s Best Employers for Women and one of the World’s Top Companies for Women by Forbes and earned a Best Place to Work for Disability Inclusion designation.
