Gwyn is a licensed medical oncologist with 20+ years of experience in the clinical research, academia and biotechnology industries. Before joining Parexel, Gwyn spent two years in global drug development at Amgen, shepherding a first-in-class bispecific T-cell-engaging immunotherapeutic molecule through to Phase III trials and a novel small-molecule inhibitor through early to late transition.

Prior to transitioning into industry, Gwyn spent 20 years in clinical research as a professor of medicine and oncology at the University of Calgary in Alberta, Canada. He helped to establish the Precision Oncology and Experimental Therapeutics program, which introduced a solid-tumor next-generation sequencing capability and brought a polyomic approach to clinical and translational research.

He also served as director of the Clinical Trials Unit at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre in Calgary for eight years, expanding its trial portfolio and successfully navigating the unit through multiple audits and inspections. While running a research lab investigating the role of DNA repair deficiency in solid tumors, he founded the provincial Glans-Look lung cancer database to examine associations between real-world patient outcomes and the molecular markers being studied by his students.

Gwyn completed his internal medicine residency at the University of British Columbia and did medical oncology fellowships at the British Columbia Cancer Agency in Vancouver. He has a medical degree from the University of Oxford, a doctorate in Molecular Pathology from the University of British Columbia, and an undergraduate degree in Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge.
