Bharti is an experienced ophthalmologist and a member of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (London, UK). Currently, as the Therapeutic Area Head and Medical Director, her responsibilities include providing scientific and strategic guidance to clients and internal teams with emphasis on medical issues, consulting in clinical drug development from pre-clinical through post-marketing, support for protocol development, regulatory submissions and manuscript development, therapeutic area training, evaluation of new technologies and safety monitoring.

Work experience

Bharti has extensive clinical experience in the management of retinal disorders including diabetic retinopathy, diabetic macular edema, retinal vein occlusions, age related macular degeneration, myopic maculopathy and a large spectrum of complex infectious and noninfectious uveitis. Her special interests include developing novel psychophysical and objective methods of assessment of visual function, structural evaluation of the retina and antiVEGF therapy. She has served as a therapeutic area expert on pharmaceutical industry international retina expert forums. Prior joining Parexel, Bharti was an investigator in the well-resourced clinical trials facility at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London. Her core competencies include study design, protocol development, IRB approvals, CRF design and development of patient recruitment pathways.

She received her fellowship training in Medical Retina and Uveitis at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London, United Kingdom, where she identified a large cohort of patients of a rare uveitic entity, birdshot chorioretinopathy and was responsible for clinical management of the cohort and research initiative in the field. She has been the recipient of a Fight for Sight grant for research in the domain, has published in peer-reviewed journals and has presented her research at national and international meetings.

Education

Bharti also is a graduate of the Harvard Medical School, United Kingdom Clinical Scholars Research Training Program and was awarded a commendation for her capstone project proposal.
