Renata Gallagher, MD, PhD joined Parexel in 2023 in the Immunology & Inflammation franchise in the role of Medical Director, as an expert in Rare Diseases, Pediatrics, and Metabolic Genetics. Dr. Gallagher was previously at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) where she directed the Section of Biochemical Genetic Medicine and was Medical Director of the Metabolic Clinic. Her professional focus has long been on improving the diagnosis of rare diseases and improving therapies for rare diseases in children and adults. She has over a decade of experience working with the pharmaceutical industry as a Principal Investigator and co-Investigator for multiple clinical trials in rare/metabolic diseases, multiple of which involved FDA approval for orphan drugs.

Dr. Gallagher received her medical degree and a doctorate in Biochemistry from UCSF. She completed a residency in Pediatrics at the University of Washington, followed by training in Medical Genetics and Clinical Biochemical Genetics at Stanford University. She was a faculty member at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus prior to returning to UCSF in 2015. She is board certified in Pediatrics, Clinical Genetics and Genomics, and Clinical Biochemical Genetics. Dr. Gallagher is a fellow of the American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics, and a member of the Society for Inherited Metabolic Disorders, Society for the Study of Inborn Errors of Metabolism, and the American Society of Human Genetics. She is presently Professor Emeritus at UCSF and serves as an advisor to multiple ongoing projects.
